The Tainan Michelin Guide: Bib Gourmand and Selected (2025)

Michelin came to Tainan in 2022, and the city has held its own ever since. In the 2025 guide, 61 Tainan establishments made the list: 30 of them Bib Gourmand (Michelin's "great food, fair price" award) and 31 Selected (the inspectors' recommended restaurants). Notably, Tainan has no starred restaurants. Its genius runs the other way: dawn beef-soup stalls and milkfish counters that an inspector rates alongside white-tablecloth rooms.

We keep this page as a single working reference to the whole field, split the way Michelin splits it, because the official map is clunky and people kept asking us for one clean list. It's sorted so you can actually use it on a trip: by tier, then with cuisine, price, area, and hours.

A note on accuracy. The restaurant names, awards, and areas below are reconciled against Michelin's published 2025 lists. Hours and closing days, though, change constantly in Tainan and were compiled rather than confirmed shop-by-shop, so treat them as a strong guide, not gospel, and check the spot's Google listing before you go, especially for the early-morning stalls that sell out and shut. The Michelin list itself refreshes every year.
